While May the Fourth started as a "punny" way to celebrate love for the iconic Star Wars franchise, we’re taking the time to go beyond the fun and fandom, to celebrate organizations on Giving Gap that champion the arts and sciences for their communities.
Not only is the Star Wars franchise one of the most influential and beloved stories in modern culture, but it’s an inspiration for many people who pursue careers in science and the arts. It has sparked the curiosity and imagination of many Black minds who want to learn more about the universe or become engineers.
The arts are also essential to Star Wars, from the stunning visuals and sound effects, to the memorable music and dialogue. Star Wars has influenced many artists, filmmakers, musicians, writers, and actors who have created works of art that enrich our culture and society.
